Abstract

The Dental Clinic Record Management System is a specialized method proposed for Florence T. Balgos Dental Clinic of Bacolod City, Negros Occidental to automate the process regarding customer account information. Hence, this can help the clinic to efficiently manage their registry and records to keep track of patients' dental condition. The proponents used informative and qualitative research approach to gather relevant data from the respondents. These facts were then documented and reviewed for further development.

Moreover, the Iterative and Incremental Development Model was used to ensure the sequential completion of the said system. The proponents used PHP and MySQL to create the interface after which actual coding was settled for function on its layout. In addition, system integration and testing were done to identify problems to correct and resolve the errors and to finalize the proposed method. Definite requirements were also identified for the proper implementation. This system can assist the clinic in generating summarized monthly reports more efficiently. Additionally, more data are gathered for future study and development of the system.

Abstract

Patient Record Management Systems in hospital today necessitate a competent administration when handling patients, generating reports from cashier, patient details which serves as a key factor for the flow of medical transactions in any hospitals in the world. Unfortunately, the current records management system of hospitals that the proponents want to has problems like mistakes in encoding data to appropriate charts, loss of patients' medical reports and late release of reports and unsecured records. Because of these concerns, the proponents proposed a Patient Safety Record Management System which is a research project that aimed to computerized all the records of patients, medical staff and drug details with the use of a barcode system that will make sure all the information are accurate and safe in doing patient management inside of the hospital. With the said system, it is intended to make all the medical action effective, useful and valuable to every medical staff and patient alike,

The major purpose of proposing Patient Safety Record Management System is to easily monitor the patient status, the medical transactions, the schedules of patients and the medicines prescribed by the doctor and also to enable the hospital administrators in a convenient, fair and timely manner. With the use of a barcode system, it will generate a barcode that will be given to the patients, and also entering patient data or information by scanning eliminates errors and other mistakes related to manual data entry. In order to achieve this goal, a thorough system study and research was carried out and data was collected and analyzed about the current system with the use of documents and data flow diagrams. The concept of report production has been computerized; hence, the proponents assure that there is no more delay in report generation to the hospital.

The method used by the proponents to develop the said system is the Waterfall Model Approach by Dr. Winston W. Royce which follows a series of events from the requirement definition, system and software design, implementation,and unit testing and operational maintenance. The significance and the benefits of the said system are to lessen the time in giving patient's information to reduce labor and paper works, and generate results immediately. The sole aim of the said proposed system is to avoid mistakes and also to provide quality care and cure of the patient.
